What is hypochlorous acid and what does it do?
When most people hear hypochlorous acid, they assume this is some sort of scary, harsh chemical that can burn your skin instantly and destroy anything in its path. In reality, hypochlorous acid is a naturally occurring chemical that is produced by our white blood cells. It has the ability to fight dangerous bacteria and viruses, specifically at the site of a wound or infection. This process promotes proper healing by not affecting the fragile cells required to heal our body while killing invading bacteria and viruses that could harm us. It is for this reason that hypochlorous acid has been used in wound care, eye care, tattoo healing, and pet care. It has been around for years and is trusted as a disinfectant in schools and hospitals because of its powerful ability to kill almost all harmful bacteria while still being safe to the human body. In fact, it is so safe, that is used to clean and disinfect the area used for breastfeeding for the safety of an infant.

If it’s so great, why haven’t I heard of it and why don’t more people use it?

The integrity and power of the hypochlorous acid has remained intact, but it now can be produced far cheaper and last longer, making its appeal to the masses grow. Even global companies in the cleaning world are starting to recognize this shift and adapt accordingly. Additionally, more products are coming to the market that allow consumers to “make” hypochlorous acid and use what they need in both tablet and pouch form and adding it to water. This was something that wasn’t possible years ago and has played a big part in the increased use of hypochlorous acid.

A little over two years ago, we met with a company that educated us on all the benefits of hypochlorous acid.
